My comics are posted at: http://howibecametexan.com/category/comics/

Back during my honeymoon, I started drawing comics as a “buffer” from normal blog posts.
Except now I like doing comics more than writing. And now I also do videos. So I guess my blog has completely morphed over the last year.

In any case, I’ve had several people ask how I draw my comics. I draw them all by hand – I prefer not to use the computer.
I wanted to make a video showing the drawing process – and I ended up LOVING how it turned out.
I might make more of these for future comics 🙂

Are your inking pens more expensive or cheaper in Japan?

Kat ♡'s Osaka says:

I used to draw a lot but never had creativity while drawing,
I over think and never get anything done or looking like I think them…
haven’t done in years, hope to get back into later on.

Eunnie Lovely says:

How long did you practice in drawing to get a great drawing like you just
did??

Jess Marino says:

Where else can we read your comics??

Nathan Garza says:

First of all, you need to start all your videos with, “Howdy Y’all, “so
people can believe you’re a Texan. (Reference to comments left on a
previous video) Second, it’s sorta sad that people these days automatically
assume you draw on a computer. Have the times changed so much that people
of today have forgotten when we used to draw and write on paper, with a pen
or pencil?

JeanRain17 says:

That looks like Haruka’s sketchbook from Project Kagerou!!!! O_O *sparkly
eyes*

יעל אדרי says:

TinyKaiju says:

Wow, I am WAY too neurotic when it comes to drawing. I could never just
draw up a full illustration without a sketch, IN PEN, especially not a
comic! So awesome! Thank you for sharing!

xWhirlwindxx says:

Extraordinary

frangitofrangito says:

It’s really amazing how you can do all that without the aid of gridlines!
And you don’t make a pencil sketch beforehand, either! Wow!

That was nice. It is always inspiring to me to see other people work.
Thanks for the video

Me llamo Jime says:

I love your comics! You have a realy cool way to draw because you know were
i how you wanth to be the finish image…

Sidonie Morris says:

I like to draw to but I’m axing you can just draw the finished product
straight away. I have to pencil everything first then ink it in :/ I’m only
a hobbyist though, too busy working and studying to turn it into a job!

Wow. You draw with pens? That’s a skill all on it own!

YouTube channel! Much love xoxo :D

Dominique says:

I have manga studio and a drawing tablet but i rather draw it free hand
then scan it in i haven’t actually started my manga yet just getting a
bunch of characters together and i wrote out panels so i know exactly what
they should say and what I’m drawing in each.. if only i could just do it
as easily and amazing as you just did it !

Phil Nolan says:

That’s awesome. I’ve been an artist all my life but not so great at drawing
even though I wanted to be a comic artist when I was a teen. So what I did
I do? Become a professional animator (of the 3D variety). lol

Edit: Whoa, I just saw you went to school in Collegeville. That’s like a
half hour from here.

Joana Morgado says:

Amazing! :DD You draw all that without even sketching first!! I mean, even
though I draw more illustration and story-comics, which requires more
planning and more sketching, I’m truly amazed how you can just convey your
mental image of the comic in every single panel without any problem. I’ve
read your comics before and they’re really well structured 😀 Kudos Grace
;D

Cutejapanvids says:

I was silently hoping you’d make a video like this! Your blog made me want
to draw again but I am not that good so I use the tablet. I am really
impressed watching this (impressed and jealous XD)

Vinayak Nair says:

Awesome, really fantastic quality. It was creepy for a sec though when you
popped in your head while displaying the comic. :-p

4lom44 says:

Have you considered drawing manga? You’re so talented! I would definitely
read a manga If you drew one

Deanna Harby says:

By hand is best–the personal touch is priceless—keep up the good work
and your great sense of humor–refreshing !!!!!

Moossey says:

I always admire how people can draw right then and there without making
mistakes or erasing.

Nahima1995 says:

You are so talented ! It takes me an hour to draw ONE thing….with pencil!
And let’s not count the amount of times i ruin a drawing when i going over
it with a black pen or marker…

foreverfallen1x says:

I applaud you because I cannot draw in pen like that. I have to sketch it
out in pencil first then go over in pen. I’m too scared to make mistakes
lol. Your comic looks cute by the way! :D

Jin Lee says:

MAKE ONE ABOUT YOUR LOVE STORY!

Christopher Ian Gibson says:

Wow, just wow!
