reminds me of that spongebob episode where he draws the realistic face
first then erases the details to make it a circle, did the animators do
this on purpose?

Normantime says:

I learnt of so many new things in this video my head hurt and I had to take
a break (I might just be bad though). The stuff he explained about the
stylized/anime eyes are the kind you’d struggle to find in self study – you
won’t figure it out through imitation and most books, even good ones, skip
past it. It makes sense, and it’ll help immensely with developing your own
style.

Han Juri says:

Your tutorials helped me a lot. I was having trouble trying to figure out
how to wrap the eyelids around the eyeball, but then figured out if I draw
where I intend the iris and pupil to point, it’s a lot easier for me to
figure out how to wrap the skin around! I still have trouble visualizing
how the eyeball fits into the eyesocket and rests in the skull however,
especially when the head is turned. I try to imagine it and my brain tries
to go “No, fuck you, not doing that”

Raluca Ragea says:

The eyes have basically been the best thing I’ve ever been able to draw and
now that I saw this video… I understood that I made mistakes and that I
really didn’t know what I’ve been doing. I’m kinda disappointed but I’m
more excited because I can move on! So thank you really, really much! <3

Shane Weber says:

love the approach of going from real to stylist drawing. Really helps you
be free in your own style.

Rules of anime: stretch the eyes to 3/4s of the head and shrink everything

Lovely, your video.

DoctorFruitbat says:

SUPER glad for this video, dude – Proko’s vid on the eye got me started,
but I was having a lot of trouble breaking it down into a sketchier,
looser, more comic-y style -drawing along with this really helped with
that, so many thanks.

The “Anime/Manga” you did with the hair, was actually REALLY good! I like
drawing in a semi-Anime/Manga style, and what you did with the face with
the hair, was spot on to what I try and draw. Good job and thanks for the
help! :D

MasterofMerol81 says:

Actually… its anime for animation & manga for comic, so its just japanese
style of one of those, not anime or manga, but japanese style.

Gruesome nightmare says:

Drawing is all about expressing your thoughts and feelings through visual
art , it is all abou bending reality…actually relity is overrated ,
because fantasy fuels creativity and creativity inspires us to imagine
things…each one of us has a unique way of thinking and imagining things .
This makes our styles unique from one another and it makes us different .

Mike Jarvis says:

Absolutely wonderful. I have learned sooo much from this. :)
