This video demonstrates how to sketch cars with a sharpie marker. Though most of my videos are executed with digital mediums it is always important to recognize that all drawing starts with pen, pencil and paper.

Hi! Can you write what design school were you talking about in the
beginning of video? I will much appreciate it!

Lost says:

Thank you so much for this! For the first time ever, a car that I drew
actually looks like a car! This is pretty much the only tutorial that
helped me a car-looking car. Haha!

or better! 🙂

Reminds me of my prof who would come in, grab a black pen and a sheet of
big paper and blow our minds, and then walk out.. We always fought for
those drawings once he left!!

Jason Kim says:

do you have any tips or guides on sketching a real car or a photo? not just
drawing by your imagination?

FLUX™ says:

really nice drawing, this really taught me that you don’t need expensive
software and paint supplies, even with a simple sharpie you can still draw
very well! Nice video, I hope for a lot more!

Dennis Tiger says:

Very good draw again

Uri Amar says:

yaabr says:

Where I can learn to draw like you? I like your style but I’d like draw
objects, can you recommend some book?

Driven Mavens says:

Thanks for the kind words! Sure you can! Just need to practice 🙂

Driven Mavens says:

Thanks my man! There will be more vids using traditional mediums.
Definitely appreciate the kind words and I am pretty stoked that you
recognized the importance of sticking with traditional methods. Digital
tools are just that….tools to communicate your ideas. The heart of ones
efforts should always start with pen and paper….or a Sharpie 😉 Cheers
and Happy New Year!

“learn” to start, i love cars but i really cannot exprease myself drawing
them and that is very disapointing, sorry about my bad english, im from
south america, by the way you have a great talent!!!! really, hope to know
how to draw like you some day, cheers!

Guilherme Trein says:

Great sketch! Dude, I use chartpak markers to render, but when I want to
sketch with marker (normally I use a bic ballpoint) I use a black
prismacolor. I can’t find sharpie here in Brazil, so I never used one. It’s
basically the same thing? Seems to me that’s more watery, allowing faster
traces. Well, like dirty chicken says, hope for a lot more videos! =)

genuie john says:

thank you

vanjarakic93 says:

as you said in the beginning, it’s not the tool, it’s a lot of practice,
skill, talent. great work man. 🙂

Driven Mavens says:

Agree…still like bic ballpoint to sketch too. I’ll be sure to add some
bic ball point sketches in the future. Thanks for commenting!
